The butterfly is an insect that belongs to Lepidoptera, which is in an order that consists of butterflies and moths. It belongs to the kingdom Animalia and the class Insecta. There are three types of butterflies that contain various diferent species; there are the true butterflies (Papilionoidea), the skippers (Hesperioodea), and the moth-butterflies (Hedyloidea). There are about 28,000 species of butterflies worldwide and approximately 1000 diferent species found in Venezuela.
